American International Group Inc (NYSE:AIG), which, through its subsidiaries, provides insurance and financial services, disclosed on 8 May that with immediate effect, Steven J Bensinger, executive VP and CFO, has been appointed as vice chairman of Financial Services.
While continuing his involvement in the company's corporate strategy and development activities, Bensinger will oversee operations across the Financial Services businesses of the company that specialise in aircraft and equipment leasing, capital markets, consumer finance and insurance premium finance. Bensinger will also continue his responsibilities as CFO until a successor is named.
William N Dooley, senior VP of Financial Services, will continue in his current position and report to Bensinger, besides continuing as interim head of AIG Financial Products Corp (AIGFP) until a successor is named.
Joining the company as treasurer early 2002, he was elected as senior VP and named treasurer and comptroller three years later and in a couple of months was also named executive VP and CFO. Bensinger is a certified public accountant.
